The Red Trail Wanderers maintain trails and organize hiking activities at Onteora Scout Reservation, Livingston Manor NY. (Theodore Roosevelt Council)
As part of the Onterora Alumni Association, we run several trail work weeks a year and welcome all scouts, scouters and friends of Scouting who would like to help.
Spring Work week June 1-9, 2024
Onteora Scout Reservation
Help improve the trails, help remove beech trees
SPACE IS LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM OF 10 PARTICIPANTS PER DAY
Each Spring and Fall we have a very special week devoted to one thing, and one thing only- - the trails at Onteora.
And your help is needed, for as you know, trails need regular maintenance, from painting blazes to pruning back undergrowth.
The spring weekend of June 1-9, 2024 will concentrate on clearing trails and re-painting blaze marks.
There are now 20 miles of marked trails at OSR so it will require plenty of help to make sure they are in good shape, not just for summer campers, but for the troops that come up in late spring and the fall to enjoy a good hike.
So, if you're up for a week of work (or any part or the week), and the camaraderie of like-minded souls, then register and come for the weekend.
Bring a day pack, and any of the following: loppers, shears, bow saws, hand clippers, shovels, and pinch bars.
Meals will be provided, under the direction of Chef Steve Shull, with all meal expenses covered by the Onteora Alumni Organization.
